New Releases!
So one of these is only slightly new, but the other is Brand Spankin’ Newly Released.
The Solomon Douglas Swingtet released their CD, Live at the Legion, in June 2009. It’s big band jazz played by a slightly smaller ensemble, spanning probably the 1930s to the ’60s. Performed in front of a live, swing-dancing audience in Vancouver, BC. I played trombone and recorded/mixed the album.
Chris Conly’s Bromantics just released their CD, 99 Cent Dreams. They are sort of a wild blues band, with rock elements and jazz improvisation. I’d like to say “jam band,” but there’s just too much baggage with that term. Anyway, I recorded and mixed this album, and I’m really happy with how badass it turned out.
Oh, and this summer, as a part of Aura Sonic Ltd., I got to record the Newport Jazz and Folk festivals for NPR! Highlights include Fleet Foxes, the Decemberists, Neko Case, Gillian Welch, Esperanza Spaulding, Joe Lovano and Dave Brubeck.
Word up.
Back in business
Whoa. So, after a long period of absence from my very own web presence, my wonderful webmaster has updated the site to make it easy for me to do important things like post news and gigs and such.
What have I been up to in the approximately 2 years since I last updated this site: I’ve moved to New York City, played lots and lots of music, recorded lots and lots of music, and started to learn double bass. I’ve also begun a production company with Greg Kamprath and Frank Wartinger, and you can check it out at www.cosmonautunion.com.
Pretty soon, I’ll be adding some media and links to projects I’ve worked on recently. So watch for that. Aaaand, it’s good to be back on the internet!
